Sales of corrugated boxes continued in March to recover starting in January this year.In March, the production of boxes, accessories and sheets of cardboard increased 7.07% in comparison with March 2016, to 292 thousand tons. In relation to February sales, the expansion reached 15.79%. At the end of the month, the ABPO will announce its statistical bulletin, which brings this data adjusted seasonally.

The figures were released by the Brazilian Association of Corrugated Cardboard (ABPO). In the first quarter, sales of corrugated cardboard accumulated a high of 5.23%, reaching 816 thousand tons. By 2017, the ABPO projects a growth of 1.5% to 2% in sales of this type of packaging, after two years of falls of more than 2%. This is the first official ABPO estimate for the year, which will have three business days less than 2016. Last year, sales of this type of packaging in the country fell by 2.27%.
